ABCs & FAQs

Living off grid, high in the mountains, brings with it a different style of life. Hopefully, we will be able to anticipate your questions and offer solutions here but, as always, please feel free to get in touch if you need to know more.

Being in the natural park of the Sierra Nevadas means clean air, peace and nature. It also reminds us, daily, to remain low impact and sustainable.

Access

Only a couple of hours on the motorway from Malaga airport, or 45 minutes from Granada airport, you can travel by car or bus to the famous spa village of Lanjarón. From there, take the La Chaparra mountain track. Some parts of the track have tarmac but in the main, it is a rural route so 4x4s are best! Campervans are welcome if you’re confident in their suspension. Larger vehicles are not recommended! We do not have a lot of parking available so please check before visiting to ensure we can accommodate you safely within this protected area.

Bed and breakfast

If you would like to come and stay, perhaps to hike these beautiful trails, go mountain biking or horse ride with our neighbours, Caballo Blanco, you can stay in our mixed, shared dormitory or tent for just 10 semillas a night. For only 4 semillas more, we can also provide you with a breakfast. Packed lunches are also available on request. To get the semillas, become a member. (1 semilla = 2€)

Communication

We welcome from all over the globe so English often becomes the default language we speak in. Bastian and Inge are native Flemish (Dutch) speakers but can also communicate in Spanish (of course!) and French. We have pretty good mobile signal all over the site and we also have hard-wired Internet access in the main house.

We can’t wait to meet you, eat with you, learn with you!
